Project Brief

Concept, design, and physically mock up a beautiful, functional, and uniquely marketable package that focuses on evoking emotion based on an idiom.

The essence of emotion

Inspiration for this package design was taken from the idiom “chip off the old block”. The objective was to create a solution that embraces the idiom and uses typography and illustration to evoke emotions associated with the phrase. Key design inspiration came from boxed fragrance packaging and vintage lettering, creating essence in relation to the idiom.

Advertising a concept

When most packaging designs focus on selling a product to the consumer, this project encouraged me to focus on colour and layout to do all of the talking with no product imagery to push visual communication.
